Arnold River
Running out of Lake Brunner which eventually connects to the Grey River.
It's popular for Kayaking and fishing for Salmon, Brown and Rainbow trout.
You can also enjoy a nice bush walk to view the historic Arnold River Power Station.
Lake Brunner
Located just 40 minutes from Ikamatua, it's a great place for Fishing, Swimming, Walking, Boating, Yachting and Jet Skiing.

Tail Race Track
Located at Nelson Creek, this walk through beech forest, crosses tailraces and old gold workings.
Murray Creek Track
The track loops around through the local goldfield.
You can walk to the Inglewood, Energetic and Ajax gold mines, along with Chandlers open-cast coal mine and Cement Town.
Woods Creek Track
This 1 hour loop walk, winds it's way through rainforest, around dams, tailraces and through tunnels.
Take a torch to explore the tunnels.
Coal Creek Falls Track
The falls are at the end of a small walk through beech-podocarp forest, that takes you into the Coal Creek Valley.

Fishing and Hunting competition
During Easter weeked each year, the Ahaura township holds the annual Hunting and Fishing competition.
It attracts people from all over New Zealand, and is fast becoming a must do event.

Scenic drives
Enjoy the following 3 scenic loop drives:

Valley Drive
Take a drive from Ikamatua to Greymouth, through the Historic town of Blackball, past the Largest Gold Dredge in the Wold, and then return via Ngahere through the beautiful Grey Valley, while visiting the Historic Brunner Mine site on the way.

Lake Drive
Travel from Ikamatua to Ngahere, via the Grey Valley, and then inland to Nelson Creek, and on to Rotomanu.
You will then travel to Lake Brunner, and onwards to Stillwater, past the Historic Arnold River Dam.
Beyond this, you will cross the Grey River bridge, and travel back up the Grey Valley to Ikamatua, past the Worlds Largest Gold Dredge and the Historic town of Blackball.

Coastal Drive
Travelling from Ikamatua to Reefton, and then down through the beautiful Buller Gorge to Westport.
You'll then head off down to Runanga via the Coast Road past the historic Mitchells Gully to the pancake rocks and blowholes at Punakaiki, and then back up past the Worlds Largest Gold Dredge and the historic Town of Blackball and back to Ikamatua.
