Ikamatua

Located in one of the most beautiful valleys on the West Coast of New Zealand.
With Summer temperatures soaring up to 34 degrees Celcius with barely a breath of wind, the fantastic microclimate makes it one of the dryest places on the Coast with 300mm - 500mm less rain than any of the main coastal towns.

With a population of under 200, you can enjoy the warmth and friendliness of small town New Zealand.

Take a small detour off the main tourist routes, and travel 35 minutes inland from Greymouth or 20 minutes South of Reefton, and into the heartland of the West Coast. By doing so, you will avoid the endless Winter fog in Reefton, the chilly barber wind in Greymouth, the rainfall in Hokitika, and the isolation of Westport.

Ikamatua is located centrally and is within an hours drive of everything shown on this website, with the exception of the Wild Foods Festival and Temple Basin, which take about 10 minutes longer.
